Can I Order a New Toyota?
Almost every customer in your situation asks the same question, especially since Toyota allows you to ‘build and price’ your ideal vehicle online. However, unlike some manufacturers, Toyota distributes new vehicles through an allocation system rather than traditional factory orders. 

How do you get a Toyota that isn’t available on the lot?
Toyota releases new vehicle allocations approximately every two weeks. These incoming vehicles are scheduled for production and have all the features pre-selected. Market demand affects the availability for each model, and production and transit times vary depending on factory location and logistics.

How Does Newbold’s Reservation Process Work?
We understand how frustrating it can be to spend hours scrolling through inventories, unable to find a vehicle that fits your needs, budget, and timeline. That’s why we’ve streamlined the process for you with our Priority Reservation Program.

As one of the highest-volume Toyota dealerships in southern Illinois and the St. Louis region, we receive regular Toyota allocations and continually monitor incoming inventory to help match customers with the vehicles they want. We’ve been serving the St. Clair, Madison, and Clinton county areas since 1972 and utilize a dealer-trade network that spans a 500-mile radius. And best of all: unlike many dealerships, our reservation deposit is 100% refundable!

Step 1: You tell us what you’re looking for
We’ll document your preferences on everything from trim level and colors to must-have features and optional packages. Know what you want but not sure where to start? No problem. We can guide you through the process and help you avoid paying for features you don’t actually want. A fully refundable $500 deposit secures your place on our VIP list.

Step 2: We search Toyota allocations and incoming inventory
If we have a relatively close match in our incoming inventory, we can request minor changes, such as colors and ‘port-installed options.’ If those changes are logistically possible, Toyota often approves them.

Step 3: We look beyond our own inventory
If we find a match in the inventory of another dealership within our large regional network, we can sometimes arrange a dealer trade if we have a vehicle to offer in return. After we reach an agreement, your vehicle is simply directed to our dealership instead.

Step 4: We request your preferred configuration
By utilizing our Priority Reservation Program, we can submit a request to Toyota on your behalf for the model, trim, and features you want.

Step 5: We keep searching until we find it
We’ll work through every option with each bi-weekly allocation and keep at it until we find exactly what you want. Having us do the grunt work means you don’t have to!
Once we’ve found or acquired your ideal vehicle, we’ll reserve it in your name until we hand you the keys. Things like trade value and financing can be addressed once your vehicle is on its way to the dealership.

What’s the Catch?
The downside is that it requires time and patience. No one likes the term waitlist or not being able to get what you want right away. But for some models and configurations, the only way to obtain one is by reserving ahead. Your wait time will typically be shorter if you can be more flexible on colors and features.
Ongoing inventory searches and communication with Toyota or other dealerships takes a lot of time and energy from our staff. As such, we require you to register with our Priority Reservation Program first. It’s a show of good faith that you intend to purchase from us, and the $500 deposit is 100% refundable.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can I custom order a Toyota?
No, Toyota doesn’t offer traditional factory custom orders but instead utilizes an allocation system. With some hard work on our part and some patience on yours, we can typically get you what you want through Newbold’s Priority Reservation Program.

Is the $500 reservation deposit refundable?
Yes! Since reserving takes the vehicle off the market for other buyers, we expect you to be committed to purchasing from Newbold. However, we understand that life happens. If things don’t work out, you’ll be refunded in full.

Which Toyota models are the most difficult to find?
Availability depends on numerous factors and often changes from one month to the next. And keep in mind that we can use this process for any new model if you want a precise configuration. Most of the customers who utilize this process are searching for a new RAV4, Sienna, Highlander, Grand Highlander, Toyota Crown, Toyota Crown Signia, Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Corolla Cross Hybrid, or Sequoia. Toyota GR models are also somewhat scarce: GR86, GR Supra, and GR Corolla.

Why is reservation necessary?
For many new Toyotas, the market demand is much greater than the supply. We may only see 1-2 units per month for some models, so the odds of those reaching the lot without being pre-sold are very slim. Even when there are cancellations, those vehicles often sell within days, if not hours.

Can I change my reservation later?
Yes. You’re not locked in to a particular model or configuration, so if your plans or preferences change during the process, be sure to keep us in the loop.

How quickly do I need to decide?
We’re here to help–not pressure you. That said, for cases of extremely limited inventory, new additions may be claimed within 1-2 days of allocation, sometimes even before they show up on the website. Acting early and joining our reservation program is the best way to ensure you don’t miss your opportunity.

What if I want to test drive first?
When inventory is scarce, we do our best to get you behind the wheel of a vehicle that fits your preferences as much as possible. Sometimes we even utilize same-year models on our pre-owned lot or rental fleet. We can go over the differences with you and show you multiple vehicles if needed. But availability changes rapidly, especially with models like the RAV4, Sienna, or Grand Highlander. Contact us to discuss our current inventory and schedule a test drive!

Will I pay MSRP?
 In most cases, yes. There are exceptions we can discuss with you directly.
