Performance

The Highlander has a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine to produce 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque, giving you an abundance of power at your disposal. When properly equipped, this allows the Highlander to tow up to 5,000 pounds with ease. You have your choice between front- and all-wheel drive, and higher trims offer Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD for improved gas mileage when all-wheel drive isn't necessary.

The Highlander also comes available with a hybrid powertrain. This combines a 186-horsepower engine with up to three electric motors for a combined horsepower of 243. You'll also be able to take advantage of the electronic on-demand all-wheel drive, which uses a third electric motor for added traction when you really need it around Belleville, IL.

Interior Space

The Toyota Highlander offers some impressive room for passengers and cargo. You can get up to 84.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded, or you can leave the second-row seats upright and still get 48.4 cubic feet for your luggage and equipment as you drive through Edwardsville.

This spacious interior translates to passengers, as well. You can seat up to eight people in this three-row SUV, or you can opt for captain's chairs for the second row to get a seating capacity of seven. Tall passengers will feel right at home thanks to the spacious head and leg room. They'll have 41.2 inches of head room in the front and 39.4 in the second row, and the leg room is just as impressive with 42 inches in the front and 41 inches for the second row.

Comfort

You won't have to worry about finding the right temperature with the Highlander thanks to a three-zone automatic climate control system, which includes a separate control panel in the second-row for easy rear-climate adjustment. You can pick up heated front seats on the Highlander XLE and ventilated front seats on the Limited trim. A heated second row is also available on the Highlander Platinum.

The seating upholstery comes in a variety of materials, including SofTex® and leather, and the driver's seat can get up to 10-way power adjust. You can pick up the leather-trimmed shift knob and steering wheel on all but the base trim to give you a more comfortable grip on long drives out of St. Louis.

Technology

Your Toyota Highlander comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ and Amazon Alexa. You can easily connect your smartphone to the system through USB, and four additional USB ports are available around the cabin for your passengers to charge their devices on the go. You can also upgrade to a 12.3-inch screen, which also comes with 11 JBL® speakers and onboard navigation system.

You'll have the top driver-assistance technology on the Highlander thanks to Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+. This includes terrific features like lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, road sign assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and more.
