A second motor sends 40 kW and 89 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The standard Ni-MH battery feeds both motors with a theoretical output of 230.4 V. This premium Toyota sedan is available with the Hybrid MAX powertrain, which incorporates more potent components. For example, a turbocharged 2.4-L engine whips 264 hp and 332 lb-ft. This turbo engine works well with a 61-kW front motor and a 58.6-kW rear motor. Creating six gear ratios, the Direct Shift automatic transmission processes power from the Hybrid Max system. The Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission handles output from the entry-level hybrid system. Both gearboxes are connected to an all-wheel drive system with several driving settings. For example, the standard hybrid powerplant comes with the EV Mode. You could invoke the Sport S and Sport S+ modes only on the Hybrid MAX powertrain. Additionally, the Adaptive Variable Suspension minimizes body roll and yaw on the road.
